Since opening our doors in 2012 as a volunteer-based 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, we have helped more than 700 horses by providing a sanctuary and support network for retired, rescued and recovering horses.

After rescuing Vivi from the slaughter pipeline in March, we were shocked and then delighted to discover that she harbored a secret and had smuggled a little +1 along.

Praying he had been spared any repercussions of the neglect she had endured, Cal was born perfectly healthy on April 18th.

Our beautiful Vivi has gone from haggard, thin, and stressed to a lovely, powerful, dappled mare who was a patient and tender mother to her first born.

Cal is perfect. Playful, curious, and mimicking his mother's every move as he learns the ropes of becoming a big boy in a safe and welcoming world.

Unscathed by her experiences, Vivi has moved on with such quiet grace and mercy.  We are humbly inspired to do the same.

A happy ending, a happy beginning.     Love is good.

That's what you do when you make a Give to the Max gift to This Old Horse. You turn pain into comfort, fear into joy, worry into love. You fill bellies and hearts. We need your help today, for Cal and the hundreds of equines like him we rescue every year.

Please, make a Give to the Max donation to This Old Horse today. Help us create this beautiful community for Cal, where love is the most important thing.

Your contribution helps animals in need:

  • $8 buys hay to feed a horse for 1 day.

  • $40 buys a bag of feed that will last a horse 15 days.

  • $60 pays for one of a horse's 9 annual hoof trims.

  • $200 pays for a horse's annual vaccines.

  • $200 pays for a horse's annual dental care.

Our horses inspire us every day. Your gift helps to ensure we can continue to rescue the abused, care for the neglected, and champion the retired.  Love is good.
